Do You Have a Pension Problem? Do You Know?
Dramatic increases in the unfunded liabilities of local police and firefighter pension funds threaten to greatly increase the tax burden on local property owners. Learn what the pension issues are and how funding deficits can impact their future health at the February 21, LCML membership meeting.
Larry Bury, policy analyst for the Northwest Municipal Conference, and Joe McCoy, the Illinois Municipal League, will raise the awareness among local officials about the serious fiscal problems facing municipal public safety pension systems in Illinois and about the reforms necessary to begin addressing the problems. Mayors, managers, trustees and staff are encouraged to attend.

LCML Legislative Breakfast, February 16
The 2008 Lake County Municipal League Legislative Breakfast has been scheduled for Saturday, February 16, from 9:00-10:30 am. The Breakfast will be held at the Round Lake Beach Cultural & Civic Center, 2007 Municipal Way (near Hook Drive and Route 83).
Please save the date and plan to attend. This is an opportunity for LCML members to discuss issues with their legislators.

Earth Day Giveaways available Plan now
If your community is planning to host an April event for Earth Day, now is the time to promote it.
Clean Air Counts is developing giveaways for anti-idling education which include key chains and vehicle stickers as well as paint sticks that provide information on low VOC paints and index cards with homemade cleaning product recipes.
