| Mayors Caucus Quarterly Meeting, rescheduled to May 5
Join the Mayors Caucus for its Quarterly Meeting on Monday, May 5, from noon to 3:30 pm, in the Library Room on the 15th floor of the Merchandise Mart, 222 Merchandise Mart Plaza, in downtown Chicago.

| Rising Sales Tax and the Impact on Communities workshop
The Chaddick Institute for Metropolitan Development at DePaul University is hosting a special workshop entitled Rising Sales Tax and Local Economic Development: New Challenges Facing Municipal Governments in Metropolitan Chicago.
The Workshop will be held on Wednesday, May 7, and will explore the possible changes in retail spending and consumer behavior in the wake of the recent sales tax increases, and consider strategies that municipalities and development agencies can employ to mitigate some of the effects of the increases. Speakers include Gerald Roper, Chicagoland Chamber of Commerce, and Greg Hinz, Crain's Business Chicago.

The Lake County Transportation Alliance has scheduled its Transportation Update for Monday, April 28. Continental breakfast from 7:30 - 8:00 am, with the program running from 8:00 - 10:00 am. The meeting will be held at the University Center of Lake County, 1200 University Center, Grayslake.

| Electric Supply for Street Lighting
Meeting April 25 at DuPage Managers and Manager, Conference offices, 1220 Oak Brook Blvd., Oak Brook.
Last summer ComEd received the right to "declare competitive" all accounts over 400 kW in demand as of May 2008. Approximately 30 municipalities will lose their attractive street lighting rate with ComEd.
In 2010 all accounts of 100 kW in demand will be declared competitive impacting their street lighting rate.
Three other electrical suppliers will be on hand at the DuPage Mayors and Managers meeting on April 25 to discuss cost-effective solutions to the street lighting rate and how to mitigate the price increase.

| Lake County Housing Conference, May 14
Joint ventures, revitalized town centers and affordable housing will be topics discussed at Blueprints, Policy & Politics workshop hosted by the Lake County Affordable Housing Commission on Wednesday, May 14, at the University Center of Lake County, Grayslake.
The workshop is open to government and building industry stakeholders. It runs from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm and costs $30 for government and non-profit groups and $60 for all others.
