Construction begins on Edens

The Illinois Department of Transporta-tion has announced the first phase of rehabilitation, resurfacing and drainage improvements to the Edens Expressway (I-94) this fall. The right lane and the shoulder of the Edens will be closed in both directions along the 14-mile expressway until November 4.

Next spring and summer IDOT will carry out phase two with patching bridge decks and resurfacing all three lanes of the Edens. This work is scheduled to begin in April 2008 and be completed by the end of July.

Long-term closures on North Tri-State Tollway

Reconstruction of the southbound lanes from Russell Road to Grand Avenue began recently with completion expected by the end of 2007. Work to rebuild the northbound lanes is scheduled to begin in 2008. Rebuilding and widening I-94 from Grand Avenue to Route 173 is part of the Tollway 39-mile Rebuild and Widen Project.

The 39-mile project is designed to provide congestion relief to daily commuters and will be completed over three years to minimize the impact on traffic.
